Why I love birth photography

When I gave birth myself, a dear friend and photographer offered to be at my birth, and when I got the images back, I was completely floored. The rawness, the beauty, the power, the love, the emotions, the hazy details, the connection, those first moments meeting my daughter, my partner’s unwavering support, it was all there. Our birth story, told in these beautiful images. Moments that I wouldn’t have been able to recall or even know happened, captured for us to cherish forever. Having my birth documented was truly a gift, and one that I wanted to be able to share with the families I support.
